      <image:title>Blog - What Going Gluten Free Taught Me About My Body in Just 12 Days - I am on day 12 of eating completely gluten free, and I want to share what I am noticing because it has genuinely surprised me. My head feels clearer than it has in a long time. I have more energy. The bloating and puffiness I had grown so used to carrying across my entire body is visibly reducing. Twelve days. That is it. I want to be honest that I did not make this change casually or randomly. I made it as part of a larger protocol I am building to support my thyroid health, specifically to address autoimmune thyroiditis, a condition where the immune system attacks thyroid tissue. And what I have learned through that research is that gluten plays a far more significant role in how our bodies function than most of us realize, regardless of whether we have a formal celiac disease diagnosis. I am sharing this because I think a lot of people are walking around feeling foggy, puffy, tired, and inflamed, and they have no idea that something as common as bread might be part of the story.</image:title>

I was prescribed it for anxiety, took it faithfully, and never once had a conversation with any of my providers about what it might be doing to the rest of my body beyond my brain. Today I went down a research rabbit hole and what I found genuinely stopped me. Here is what sent me there. I have been diagnosed with gradual hearing loss. I have seen an ENT, an audiologist, and had an MRI. And yet I still feel water in my ear even though every specialist has told me there is nothing there. I have been waking up at night and in the morning with numb hands. And I have been gaining weight despite being on HRT for over two years, which should theoretically support weight regulation. Three seemingly unrelated symptoms that no one has been able to fully connect. That combination sent me looking for answers and what I found tied all three of them back to one thing: thyroid dysfunction.</image:title>

Most traditionally-educated practitioners have been trained to learn about one part of our bodies in depth, which is fantastic if we have assurance that our problem really is related to one part of our body. However, the reality is that the human body has 11 major organ systems,and they are dependent on each other. So while treating a common problem such as back pain might seem straightforward, and there are medications that can ease the symptoms - the reality is that back pain can stem from many root causes, some of which include posture, injury, weight, stress, trauma, dehydration, and nutrition. When’s the last time your doctor walked through all of these possibilities with you and helped you understand the dynamics at play? When’s the last time someone worked with you to prevent these problems by helping you learn about your body and draft your “user manual” to sustained wellness?</image:title>

I have been on Zoloft for three years and more recently went through a transition to Lexapro before deciding to taper off.
