Meet Nicole
As a Certified Health and Wellness Coach, I work with people navigating persistent conditions—from chronic stress and anxiety to elevated blood sugar or injuries that won't heal. My approach is rooted in Co-Active transformational coaching, which means I focus on the whole person rather than just a set of symptoms. I bring together my training from the Institute for Integrative Nutrition (IIN) with the principles of Yin Yoga and Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), focusing on nutrition, lifestyle, and nervous system regulation. My goal is to help clients understand how the connection and root cause of physical and mental health, create an action plan, and make meaningful changes so they can resolve pain, avoid major health crises, and be in control of their own wellbeing.
Personal and Family Advocacy
My perspective was shaped by twenty years of navigating complex health journeys within my family. I supported my husband through a major heart attack and a late Autism diagnosis that reframed our life together. I’ve navigated ADHD and anxiety with my sons, and I’ve managed my own ADHD and the shifts of menopause. When my stepson came out as transgender at 17, he was also struggling with anorexia, dysmorphia, and depression; I coordinated his care team and supported him through every stage of his transition. Along the way, I have observed my husband and my parents navigate chronic back pain, cancer, and digestive disorders like diverticulitis. These experiences, alongside our shared struggles with food sensitivities and nutrition, have given me a deep understanding of how physical ailments impact our daily lives.
Mental Health and Healing Journey
My own path involved years of talk therapy to address increasing stress at work and an emergent understanding of unresolved trauma. I realized how that trauma had shaped my neural pathways, influencing my thoughts and actions in ways I wanted to change. When the stress eventually led to nervous system failures, I sought out guided ketamine therapy. The clarity I found there shifted my understanding of what is possible when the conventional path isn't enough, and it reinforced my belief in alternative and psychedelic modalities for those still searching for answers.
The Role of Health Coaching
I’ve been coaching for eight years, and my and others' observation is that the current health system in the US is designed to wait until disease happens, then fix it with medication or surgeries that sometimes create other problems in our bodies. Most primary care doctors and specialists are neither trained in wellness and nutrition, nor do they have the time to provide the direction we need to understand exactly what to do to avoid or heal health conditions. This is where health coaches come in. We come alongside practitioners and patients to provide the guidance, support, and accountability needed to address signals being surfaced—whether that’s in medical test results or in symptoms a client is experiencing but doesn't know how to manage.
Services and Expertise
Through Torgersen Holistic Wellness, LLC, I provide holistic coaching that integrates functional nutrition, mindset, and lifestyle adjustments. I help my clients work through low energy, peri/menopause symptoms, and the root causes of emotional and physical pain. Whether we are addressing physical injuries through the lens of TCM or shifting the way you approach your professional goals through transformational coaching, I believe food, mindfulness, and movement are essential medicines that our society has yet to fully embrace.
Professional Background
My professional background was shaped by over twenty-five years as a user experience design leader in tech. I understand the pressure of being a working mom and the primary breadwinner in a high-stakes environment. Over the course of my career, I led teams ranging from 6 to 300 people, and I realized it was time to transition when I found that I got more joy out of coaching my staff members than I did from the UX design work I had adored for two decades. I eventually left that world to work with humans in a different capacity that helps them be healthy and fulfilled every day, and to avoid anxiety, burnout, and disease as much as possible. My mission is to make wellness approachable so we can all feel empowered to take care of ourselves before disease arrives, or whenever our bodies tell us they need help.
